Sliding into a DM near you

It all started at a bookshop in Brooklyn. A brief look over the staff recommendation shelf and a small book caught my eye, because I do judge books by their covers. The handwritten note mentions the small independent publisher and says if you don’t know it, check it out. So I did, and after a few minutes of perusing the website and looking at their publications (only 2 small books a year), I thought, I could probably do something like this. But I’m gonna need help, and I know only one person that I might be able to convince - and that would be Dr. Skye O’Neill.

I messaged her after a brainstorming session in the shower (where I do all of my best mind writing). She lives across the ocean after all, and the logistics alone needed a good think. My first idea was that we should start something solely online and see if there was enough interest to venture into print. I took a screenshot of that message because I wanted proof of how immediately and enthusiastically she agreed to my very broad and vague proposal:

Proof of our origin story

Proof of our origin story

In just a few hours it was decided. We would channel all of our instagram angst into a magazine full of beautiful imagery and personal stories that would last far longer than a leisurely scroll. But I’m not going to tell you how long it took for us to decide on a name, because that process can be summed up easily in one word: SAGA.
